the trial judge found that banco espirito santo failed to prove that bdo international managed and controlled bdo seidman, which limited the judgment only to chicago-based bdo seidman. but the 3rd district court of appeal disagreed, saying that enough evidence was presented at trial to prove the relationship.
“the victory today means that ultimately bdo international, along with all the bdo member firms and offices worldwide, will be jointly liable for the $521 million judgment against bdo seidman,” said a banco espirito santo attorney.
